Job summary

Checkr is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Verifications team in Denver to own a broad surface area, scale data quality and automation, and drive delivery across complex integrations. You will lead a growing team, partner with Product, Compliance, and Engineering leadership, and influence architecture decisions for scalable verification experiences.

The role emphasizes rapid growth, regulatory awareness, and embedding AI-assisted development while maintaining high accuracy and reliability

Qualifications

• 4+ years as an engineering manager, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
• 8+ years as a software engineer, with strong command of service architecture, distributed systems, and system design.
• Experience managing complex third-party integration environments across reliable systems you don’t fully control.
• A track record of improving operational metrics such as incident frequency and detection time.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development and agentic coding tools and their tradeoffs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the Verifications engineering team — setting technical direction, driving performance and career development conversations, and building a hiring pipeline.
• Own the reliability and quality of a broad portfolio of fulfillment integrations — partnering with vendors and stakeholders to reduce friction and improve turnaround times.
• Partner with Product to define and execute the roadmap across employment, education, drug and health, and compliance products.
• Drive technical strategy for scaling a complex, integration-heavy system and automate verification experiences.
• Lead the team's adoption of AI-assisted development practices while maintaining quality and accuracy.
