Job summary

Slate is seeking a Vehicle Network and Diagnostics Engineer to join our USA-based Electrical Engineering team. You will develop vehicle communications requirements and manage CAN/UDS/Ethernet solutions across ECUs, including CAN database creation and diagnostic content.

You will implement AUTOSAR-based configurations, define fault code management, and ensure traceability from development to production, with a focus on cybersecurity interfaces and EOL tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering, CS, Systems Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years in vehicle networks, ECU communication, and diagnostics with ISO standards (ISO 14229, ISO 15765, ISO 11898).
  • 5+ years automotive embedded software for ECU diagnostics, bootloaders, and cybersecurity (UDS, Secure Boot, Flash Bootloader).
  • 3+ years with automotive development, diagnostics, and validation tools (Vector tools, Wireshark, ETAS).
  • 3+ years developing diagnostic services, device control, fault management, calibration, and software updates for ECUs.
  • 3+ years with DBC authoring, CDD-based content, and vehicle network configuration.
  • 2+ years in systems engineering (DOORS, Polarion, JIRA, Bitbucket, RTC).
  • Experience ISO 26262 Functional Safety and ASPICE.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Start-up and fast-paced environment adaptability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Develop vehicle communications requirements and manage development, sourcing, and engineering of CAN/UDS/Ethernet/LIN solutions.
  • Create and maintain CAN databases (.DBC) and diagnostic content (.CDD).
  • Design AUTOSAR-based vehicle serial communication protocols and configs for ECUs.
  • Define fault code management strategy and implement UDS services across CAN modules.
  • Ensure traceability, homologation, and cybersecurity interfaces within vehicle architecture.
  • Work with third-party stacks and validate against development and service tools.
