Job summary

Slate Auto is seeking a Vehicle Network and Diagnostics Engineer to develop and manage vehicle communication solutions. You will create CAN databases and diagnostic content, design AUTOSAR-based serial protocols, and ensure coverage across ECUs with UDS and ISO standards.

You will work with 3rd party stacks and internal teams to meet requirements, verify fault codes, and support cybersecurity features. This is a growth-focused role with strong collaboration across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/ Electronics/ Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering or related field.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• 5+ years in vehicle networks, ECU comms and diagnostics integration with automotive protocols (CAN, UDS, ISO standards).
• 5+ years embedded software for ECU diagnostics, bootloaders, FOTA, cybersecurity.
• 3+ years with automotive validation tools (Vector, Wireshark, ETAS).
• 3+ years developing diagnostic services and ECU comms in AUTOSAR environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop vehicle communications requirements and manage development, sourcing, and engineering of solutions.
• Create and maintain CAN databases (.DBC) and diagnostic content (.CDD).
• Design AUTOSAR-based serial comms protocols and ECU services.
• Define fault code management strategy and UDS services across CAN modules.
• Develop interfaces for external ECUs, manufacturing, and test benches.
