Job summary

The Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) is seeking a Trainer, Vehicle Maintenance in Columbus, OH to coordinate and deliver advanced training and development programs within the vehicle maintenance department.

You will collaborate with maintenance leadership to track and evaluate training, oversee apprenticeship programs, and deliver foundational and ongoing training for supervisors to ensure operational excellence. Equal Opportunity Employer.

Qualifications

• Requires Associate's Degree in diesel mechanics, heavy equipment repair or related field, plus four years of training/supervisory experience.
• Must obtain CDL Class B with passenger endorsement within six months.

Responsibilities

• Develops and delivers hands-on, classroom, and on-the-job training for maintenance staff on diesel, CNG, electric bus systems.
• Performs retraining for employees involved in accidents to reinforce safety.
• Collaborates with leadership to assess training needs and improve efficiency in the department.
• Designs and updates training materials, manuals, lesson plans, and online modules.
• Coordinates training with OEMs and manufacturers to ensure alignment with standards.
• Maintains training records and conducts competency assessments to ensure continuous improvement.
• Assists in administration and testing for CDL permits.
