Job summary

Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) is seeking a Director of Vehicle Maintenance to provide strategic leadership and oversight of the bus fleet maintenance operations, ensuring reliability and service readiness for revenue and non-revenue vehicles. This role leads and develops the maintenance workforce and partners with Vehicle Engineering to refine SOPs, KPIs, and performance feedback systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field with 10 years fleet maintenance experience.
• 10+ years progressively responsible fleet maintenance experience; 7 years managing a large maintenance department.
• ASE certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Drives continuous improvements through process optimization and industry best practices.
• Provides executive oversight to ensure fleet availability for service delivery and develops preventive/predictive maintenance programs.
• Oversees technical analyses and engineering evaluations to improve vehicle design, performance, and parts longevity.
• Leads development of the department's maintenance strategy and operating philosophy; implements training programs.
• Maintains labor relations and contract administration in alignment with bargaining agreements.
• Communicates needs and challenges to executive leadership and staff at all levels.
• Collaborates with C-suite to advance a forward-looking maintenance vision using new technologies.
• Works cross-functionally with other divisions to address operations issues.
