Job summary

City of Garland is seeking an Emergency Vehicle Technician to install, maintain, and repair electronic systems in City vehicles, including warning lights, sirens, GPS, radios, and video systems.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 6 months of related experience, EVT certification within 6 months of hire (or ability to obtain), and knowledge of basic DC circuits. The job involves lifting up to 50 pounds and working in a shop environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 6 months of related field experience.
• EVT certification within 6 months of hire or ability to obtain.
• Basic DC circuit theory and installation knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair specific electronic and specialty devices in City vehicles.
• Repair or resolve problems with electronic equipment resulting from diagnostic tests.
• Modify or fabricate metal used in the installation process.
• Monitor problem resolution and ensure timely completion following the ITIL process.
• Procure parts to repair electronic equipment and maintain records.
• Communicate with City of Garland employees, contractors, vendors, and other public safety personnel to meet City-wide needs.
• Organize shop supplies and tools and maintain the upkeep of the shop.
