Job summary

City of Garland is seeking an experienced technician to install and maintain electronic and specialty equipment in City vehicles, including warning lights, sirens, GPS, docking stations, 2-way radios, mobile video systems, vehicle radars, and inverters. The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and EVT certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months).

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • EVT certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Basic DC circuit fundamentals and installation knowledge.
  • Equivalent education/experience considered.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electronic devices in City vehicles.
  • Repair problems identified by diagnostics and tests.
  • Modify or fabricate metal used in installations.
  • Monitor resolutions following ITIL processes.
  • Procure parts and maintain records.
  • Communicate with City employees, contractors, vendors and public safety personnel.
  • Organize shop supplies and maintain shop upkeep.
