Job summary

Akima Systems Engineering is seeking a System Administrator (VDI SME) to manage 300+ VMs in a DoD environment at Camp H. M. Smith, HI. You will ensure secure, compliant operations across VOEs using vCenter, Horizon View, ESXi, and storage from Rubrik to Pure Storage.

You will maintain STIG/auditing controls, manage DoD PKI, and support ESS integration, backups, and COOP planning. Expect after-hours as needed in a critical DoD IT role.

Qualifications

• Active TS clearance and SCI eligibility.
• Must meet DoD 8410.03 proficiency at intermediate level.
• Must possess one of the 8570 IAT-II certifications (CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP).
• Minimum High School Diploma/GED.
• At least three years of experience managing and supporting VMware vCenter & Horizon View.
• Experience securing VMware/Windows desktops in a DoD environment.
• Experience with STIGs, baselines, Rubrik, Cohesity, Tintri, and Pure Storage.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, install, update, and secure OSes and applications using VMware platforms and storage solutions.
• Monitor security and performance logs, manage ServiceNow tickets, and participate in technical meetings.
• Create and update VOE SOPs and provide monthly status reports; support after-hours outages as needed.
