Job summary

Akima Systems Engineering (ASE) is seeking a System Administrator to manage and secure over 300 VMs across VOEs in a DoD environment at Camp H M Smith, HI.

The role focuses on operating system and application hardening, STIG compliance, and EndPoint Security Solutions, with occasional after-hours work and collaboration with cybersecurity staff to ensure a secure VDI infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Active TS clearance and eligible for SCI.
• IAW DoDM 8410.03, must meet intermediate proficiency level.
• Must possess one of the specified 8570 IAT-II certifications (CCNA Security; CySA+; GICSP; GSEC; Security+ CE; SSCP).
• Must have at least three years of experience managing and supporting VMware vCenter & Horizon View environments.
• Must have experience securing VMWare and Windows Desktop systems within a DoD environment.
• Experience with STIGs and DoD and customer regulations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, install, update, and secure OSes and apps using VMware platforms and storage solutions.
• Monitor security and performance logs; manage ServiceNow tickets; participate in technical meetings.
• Create and update VOE SOPs; provide monthly status reports; support after-hours outages.

The System Administrator, VDI SMEis responsible forthe administration of over 300 Virtual Machines (VMs) across various Virtual Operating Environments (VOEs) with differing security classifications. This role ensuresthe operations, confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information assets in compliance with established IT standards and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Key responsibilities include the maintenance, installation, updating, and security of operating systems and applications,utilizingplatforms like VMware vCenter, VMware Horizon View, and VMwareESXi, along with storage solutions such as Rubrik, Cohesity, and Pure Storage. The administrator is tasked withmaintainingSecurity Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliance, managing DoD PKI requirements, and ensuring all systems are integrated into the Endpoint Security Solutions (ESS) architecture.

• Additionally, the role involves monitoring security and performance logs, managing ServiceNow tickets, andparticipatingin technical meetings to provide expert recommendations. The administrator will also handle backup and restoration processes, support command exercises and inspections, and manage the Continuity of Operations (COOP) for VOE systems.

• The VDI SME is expected to create,maintain, and update VOE Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and provide monthly status reports detailing accomplishments, ongoing issues, and efforts requiring government action. Occasional after-hours and weekend work may benecessary to support service outages. This position requires a proactive approach to system management anda strongcollaboration with developers and cybersecurity staff to ensure a secure and efficient virtual desktop infrastructure.

• Must have experience managing application virtualization and VDI baseline images.
• Must have experience managing Secure Host Baselines.
• Must have experience managing Rubrik and Cohesity.
• Must have experience managing VMWare SAN,vCOPS,vRO, andESXiin a DoD environment.
• Must have experience managingTintriand Pure storage.
• Must have experience supporting Endpoint Security Solution (ESS) agents.
• Must be “VMware Certified Professional – Desktop and Mobility (VCP-DTM) 6 (or later)” certified and certification must be in good standing.
• Must have a proactive approach to system management and a strong collaboration approach to ensure a secure and efficient virtual desktop infrastructure.
• Must be able to work occasional after-hours and weekend work as may berequiredto support service outages.
