Deliver simple solutions to complex problems as a VDI Engineer at GDIT. You will tailor cutting‑edge solutions to meet the unique needs of our clients and prioritize the end‑user experience. As a VDI Engineer you will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter. This role requires a TS/SCI cleared VDI Engineer to support our intelligence customer in Arnold, MO or Springfield, VA.
Responsibilities
- Architect, design, implement, and maintain Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions to support enterprise requirements.
- Provide Tier 3 technical support to system administrators by troubleshooting and resolving complex VDI‑related issues.
- Advise on desktop optimization strategies to ensure platform interoperability and serve as a technical liaison for VDI technologies.
- Deliver advanced endpoint support, including troubleshooting and resolution of virtual desktop‑related incidents and service requests.
- Maintain expert‑level knowledge of VDI administration, engineering, implementation, and emerging virtualization technologies.
- Operate effectively across multiple, complex production environments while collaborating with diverse stakeholders and cross‑functional teams.
- Apply advanced technical expertise and a comprehensive understanding of related disciplines to support enterprise infrastructure initiatives.
- Conduct technical evaluations and trade studies, providing recommendations for architecture, solution selection, and make‑versus‑buy decisions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Extensive experience designing, implementing, administering, and troubleshooting Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (formerly XenDesktop) version 7.x and later.
- Strong proficiency with Citrix Provisioning Services (PVS) and Machine Creation Services (MCS).
- Working knowledge of user profile management and containerization technologies, including Liquidware ProfileUnity, Microsoft FSLogix, or equivalent solutions.
- Experience administering and troubleshooting Citrix ADC (NetScaler) appliances, including load balancing, SSL, and secure remote access configurations.
- Experience supporting virtualized infrastructure on VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper‑V, Nutanix, Citrix XenServer, etc.
- Strong understanding of Windows Server administration, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and enterprise networking concepts.
- Experience with VDI performance tuning, capacity planning, monitoring, and troubleshooting in large‑scale enterprise environments.
- Familiarity with PowerShell scripting and automation to support Citrix administration and operational tasks.
- Ability to analyze complex technical issues, develop effective solutions, and communicate recommendations to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience administering and managing Microsoft SQL Server environments, including database maintenance, performance monitoring, backup and recovery, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of infrastructure‑as‑code (IaC) and configuration management tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or DSC.
- Experience with enterprise monitoring, logging, and analytics platforms such as ControlUp, Citrix Director, Splunk, or Microsoft SCOM.
- Familiarity with storage technologies that support VDI workloads, including SAN, NAS, and hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI).
- Experience participating in architecture reviews, technology roadmaps, and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
- Knowledge of security frameworks, vulnerability remediation, and STIG compliance within enterprise Windows environments.
- Experience supporting DevOps or CI/CD processes for infrastructure deployments and configuration management.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers, lead technical initiatives, and collaborate effectively across engineering, operations, and cybersecurity teams.
Compensation
The likely salary range for this position is $115,600 – $156,400. Salary will be set based on experience, geographic location, and contractual requirements.
