Job summary

Wohlsen Construction is seeking a seasoned VDC Director to lead the Virtual Design & Construction function across regions. You will set the strategy, manage the VDC team, standards, and growth, translating client needs into a scalable, model-based delivery approach that reduces risk and accelerates project execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 12–15 years of progressive VDC/BIM experience with leadership experience.
• Proficiency with BIM authoring and coordination tools (Revit, Navisworks) and model-based estimating, visualization, and reality-capture workflows.
• Proven track record building or scaling a VDC/BIM function, including team development and process standardization.
• Strong ability to partner with Business Development, Preconstruction, and Operations leadership.
• Excellent executive presence and communication skills for client and senior leadership presentations.
• Knowledge of modern project delivery methods (Design/Build, IPD) and emerging VDC technologies (4D, reality capture, digital twin).

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and grow the VDC team across regions.
• Own the VDC strategic roadmap and software selection.
• Establish standardized VDC deliverables, service levels, and project-phase engagement.
• Drive proactive VDC involvement in preconstruction and estimating.
• Set direction on technology investments including 4D animation and modeling capabilities.
• Serve as the lead for VDC in client pursuits and executive reporting.
• Partner with Business Development to position VDC as a differentiator in pursuits.
• Embed VDC into estimating, constructability, and field workflows.
• Implement standards and workflows to sustain model use through construction and closeout.
• Develop and manage vendor and technology partnerships (Autodesk, reality-capture partners).
• Provide training to Wohlsen team members on VDC capabilities and processes.
• Establish metrics to track VDC impact (coordination quality, field conflict reduction, pursuit win).
• Build the long-term case for VDC across full project lifecycle.
