Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking a VDC Engineer in Hawaii to support project teams, mentor BIM engineers, and lead model management for cross-discipline coordination. The role serves as the primary liaison for VDC coordination among design, engineering, trades, and operations.

Responsibilities span executing VDC plans, resolving clashes, and ensuring model quality, with daily engagement in coordinating field technology and 3D coordination efforts across project controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design or Engineering.
• Expertise with Autodesk programs - AutoCAD and Revit.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Understanding concepts of VDC or BIM.
• Exposure to BIM systems (Autodesk Revit, Synchro, Navisworks, SketchUp).
• Excellent computer skills including MS Office, Adobe Acrobat and Bluebeam.
• Strong personal management, dedication, organization, and open-mindedness.
• Creative thinker with ability to work in a close-knit environment.
• Preferred: 3+ years in building or design industry.

Responsibilities

• Support projects hand field related VDC activities.
• Execute project VDC Plans and implementation strategies with the Project & VDC Manager.
• Manage and coordinate architectural, MEPTF, structural, civil, and site model components.
• Identify and resolve clash detection and design coordination issues.
• Provide quality assurance for model reliability, structure, and content.
• Understand basic field layout principles.
• Enforce coordinated VDC schedule with tracking and notifications.
• Engage daily with T&D, QPL, and 6-Step QC Process.
• Produce updates for field technology deployment and alignment with control plans.
