Job summary

Moore's Electrical & Mechanical is offering a Summer 2027 VDC/BIM Internship in Altavista, VA. The role provides hands-on experience in virtual design and building information modeling for electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical piping within commercial projects.

The intern will learn alongside the Projects team and gain exposure to design software and field coordination. Ideal candidates are undergraduates in Construction Management or Construction Engineering with strong MS Office skills,

Qualifications

• Undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Construction Management or Construction Engineering.
• Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining a team-first mindset.
• Desire to learn and grow in VDC/BIM environment.
• Transportation to Altavista offices and job sites.
• Great sense of humor and collaborative spirit.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with VDC team members on current projects.
• Collaborate with field staff on questions with drawings or models.
• Gain experience in Revit and other design software/equipment.
• Possibly visit working job sites to shadow installations of mechanical/electrical systems.
• Strategize for events/items to maintain and boost team morale.
• Interact respectfully and productively with all types of people.
• Prepare presentation for Leadership at internship completion.

The Role:

Moore's Electrical & Mechanical is seeking a dynamic and motivated intern to join our Projects team for the Summer of 2027. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in virtual design and building information modeling for commercial projects in electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and/or mechanical piping. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, develop valuable skills, and contribute to our continued success.
