Job summary

Clayco is seeking a Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Engineer to join its growing VDC unit in Chicago. You will support design-build teams with 3D/2D coordination and BIM process implementation, ensuring accurate, efficient project delivery.

In this role you will perform 4D/5D virtual analyses, clash detection, and quantity take-offs while coaching project teams in BIM best practices. Travel to job sites is required as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management.
• 2+ years of AEC experience, with emphasis on MEP coordination.
• 3+ years with Autodesk Building Design Suite (Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Assemble).
• 3+ years with Structionsite, DroneDeploy, and BIM 360/ACC cloud tools.
• Willingness to travel/ relocate to job site.

Responsibilities

• Support design-build team to facilitate 3D and 2D coordination.
• Coordinate BIM activities with design teams and subcontractors.
• Provide technical support for in-house BIM applications.
• Assist Pre-Con with quantities extraction and scheduling.
• Coach teams in BIM best practices.
• Coordinate 3D content and model updates.
• Perform 4D and 5D analyses with scheduling and estimating teams.
• Document clash detection and assist in conflict resolution.
• Take-off material quantities for conceptual estimates.
• Manage model changes through design updates and as-built conditions.
• Serve as information manager and content gatekeeper.
