Job summary

Clayco in Chicago, IL is seeking a Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Engineer to join its design-build team. You will support 3D/2D coordination, BIM content management, and integration of digital practice technology across the project lifecycle.

Ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in AEC, 1–3 years with VDC/BIM, proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and related tools; willingness to travel; fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management.
• 1–3 years of experience in AEC, in particular MEP coordination.
• Minimum 1 year of experience with VDC/BIM processes.
• Solid knowledge of construction principles/practices.
• Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Building Design Suite (Revit, Assemble Systems, AutoCAD, Navisworks), Structionsite, DroneDeploy, and BIM 360/ACC cloud-based technology.
• Willing to travel and relocate to a job site.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to design-build team to facilitate 3D and 2D coordination.
• Liaison with the design team and project subcontractors through BIM-centric activities.
• Provide technical support for in-house applications.
• Assist Pre-Con with quantities extraction and scheduling.
• Assist and coach project teams in the use of BIM best practices.
• Coordinate 3D content modeled by others and model any content not provided.
• Perform 4D virtual building analysis with scheduling and coordination.
• Perform 5D virtual building analysis with estimating.
• Perform and document clash detection on virtual building model and assist in conflict resolution.
• Manage model changes through design updates and as-built conditions.
