Job summary

Piedmont Heart Institute at Piedmont Augusta Hospital is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join the in-patient vascular service. The role includes inpatient rounding and first assisting in the OR, with occasional clinic crossover.

The AP will work with cardiovascular specialists, participate in ambulatory care, and contribute to a comprehensive vascular program with training and CME benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Physician Assistant program with current license for the Georgia State Composite Board.
• Graduate from a school of nursing with current Georgia license for Advanced Practice Nursing and a Master's degree in Nursing.
• Vascular/cardiovascular or general surgery experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patients and performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist physician in diagnosing medical and surgical problems and prescribes necessary treatment.
• Takes patient histories, conducts physical exams, writes progress notes, prepares workups and summaries, and develops therapeutic relationships with patients.
• Orders and schedules laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures and explains them to the patient and family.
• Monitors patient progress and reports to the supervising physician, maintaining progress records.
• Autonomous AP provider responsible for vascular inpatient and clinic coverage and assists in the OR as needed.
