Job summary

Piedmont Augusta Hospital seeks a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to support the inpatient Vascular Service, with rounding and first assisting in the OR. Occasional clinic crossover may occur.

Qualifications

• PA: Graduate of a Physician Assistant program with current license for the Georgia State Composite Board.
• NP: Graduate from a school of nursing with current Georgia license for Advanced Practice Nursing and a Master's degree in Nursing.
• Preferred: vascular, cardiovascular or general surgery experience.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patients and performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist physicians.
• Takes histories, conducts exams, writes progress notes, and develops therapeutic relationships with patients.
• Orders and schedules labs and diagnostic procedures; explains procedures to patients and families.
• Monitors patient progress and communicates with supervising physicians when progress is not meeting criteria.
• Autonomous AP provider responsible for vascular inpatient care and clinic coverage; assists in the OR as needed.

Overview:

Piedmont Heart Institute is currently recruiting for a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner to join the team at our Piedmont Augusta Hospital. This position will support the In-patient Vascular Service and includes both inpatient rounding and first assisting in the OR. Some occasional crossover may be required in the clinic setting.

Advanced Practice Provider - Vascular Surgery - Piedmont Augusta

Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

• a. Assesses patient and performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist physician in diagnosing medical and surgical problems and prescribes necessary treatment and services for quality patient care.
• b. Takes patient histories, conducts physical examinations, writes progress notes, prepares patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings, obtains psychosocial history relevant to patient care, and assumes responsibility for developing therapeutic relationships with patients.
• c. Orders and schedules laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures. Explains necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedure(s) to the patient, patient's family, and staff.
• d. Monitors progress of patients, reports progress to supervising physician, and maintains record of each patient's progress, consulting with supervising physician when patient's progress does not meet anticipated and/or predetermined criteria.
• e. This autonomous Advanced Practice Provider will be responsible for Vascular inpatient, as well as Clinic coverage, and will assist in the OR as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

PA: Graduate of a Physician Assistant program with current license for the Georgia State Composite Board

NP: Graduate from a school of nursing with current Georgia license for Advanced Practice Nursing and a Master's degree in Nursing

Strongly prefer candidates with previous vascular, cardiovascular or general surgery experience.
