Job summary

Fairview Health Services invites applications for a Vascular Access RN at the M Health University of Minnesota Medical Center – West Bank. This 0.7 FTE role involves rotating day/evening shifts, with 8- or 12-hour days and every third weekend, delivering high-quality care for pediatric and adult patients.

The RN coordinates care, performs advanced IV/PICC insertions, and trains staff on vascular access devices while meeting MN Nurse Practice Act requirements.

Qualifications

• MN RN license is required.
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Association or Red Cross) is required.
• 2 years of recent vascular access experience or 3 years of related nursing experience.
• Experience placing peripheral IV catheters.
• Certification from Infusion Nurses Society (INS) or Association of Vascular Access (AVA) within 2 years post hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient for proper vascular access device placement.
• Place complex peripheral IV lines in neonate, pediatric, and adult patients.
• Use ultrasound and other technologies for IV placement.
• Independently complete PICC and ultrasound-guided IV insertions within 6 months of hire.
• Coordinate care with health care team and mentor others in VAD care.
• Inspect and treat vascular access device-related complications.
• Demonstrate compassionate care and involve family in care planning.
