Job summary

Crossroads Christian School, Inc. is seeking an assistant coach to support the head coach in all aspects of the sport, coaching student athletes in game strategies and techniques while fostering a Christ-centered, discipline-focused team culture.

The role requires active participation in training, adherence to school and CIF requirements, and collaboration with the Athletic Director and staff to schedule practices and games. A Christian faith and coaching experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• In-depth knowledge and experience in sport.
• Minimum one-year high school varsity coaching experience preferred
• Ability to obtain a valid CPR/First Aid card, SS card, and mandatory coaching application requirements (concussion protocol training certificate, if necessary for the sport)
• Letters of recommendation (2)

Responsibilities

• Committed to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a compassionate servant equipped with Biblical moral standards.
• Provide Christian and coaching excellence in the leadership of the school.
• Implement the Mission and Vision Statements of Crossroads Christian Church and School, as well as the CCS Athletics MVP Initiative within coaching and leading their respective sport.
• Willingness to attend coaching training if made available.
• Active participation in all athletic meetings.
• Focus on working closely with all school staff by providing any information regarding a player’s behavior change, attitude and/or athletic performance.
• Ensures all players have been cleared by the Athletic Department in respect to school and, if necessary, CIF requirements before participation.
• Assesses players’ skills and assigns team positions.
• Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development.
• Works with the Athletic Director in scheduling facilities for practices and competition in a timely manner.
• Performs expected and reasonable duties assigned by the head coach as necessary
• Coaches and instructs players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
• Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior and always provides proper supervision of athletes.
• Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
• Follows state, regional, and district/league/school regulations governing the athletic program.
• Models Christ-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
• Participate in special activities to include parent nights, banquets, award nights, and assemblies.
• Maintains eligibility forms, emergency data cards, equipment inventory, and other related records.
• Must be able to perform other duties related to coaching such as but not limited to: effective communication with parents and staff; development of a positive working relationship with booster clubs/donors/corporate sponsors.
• Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director, School Director, Athletic Director, or other appropriate administrator.
