The City of Lakewood is seeking a part-time Recreation Center Front Desk Clerk to support front desk operations and class registrations with a strong focus on customer service.

This seasonal, non-benefited role requires reliable attendance and the ability to work evenings and weekends. Responsibilities include cash handling, registration input, and providing information on programs. CPR/First Aid certification may be obtained within three months of hire.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Greets visitors and assists patrons with inquiries and information.
  • Answers the telephone, directs calls, provides information, and records messages.
  • Inputs patron membership and registration data into the recreation software.
  • Handles payments and prepares daily cash reports and deposits as required by shift.
  • Maintains supplies and enforces facility rules and policies.
  • Supports shift duties such as cleaning, setup/cleanup, and building checks.

As a forward-facing position, this position has a strong emphasis on customer service and communication.The City of Lakewood is currently recruiting variable employees for this position. A variable employee is an at-will employee who works in a seasonal or temporary capacity. Their work schedule is based on business need. This position would be a part-time non benefitted position.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesIncumbent is accountable for all duties of this job and other projects and responsibilities may be added at the City’s discretion. Employees must be able to perform the essential duties of this job with or without reasonable accommodation.Greets visitors to the indoor/outdoor facility and assists patrons as necessary.Answers the telephone, directs calls, provides information, and records messages as needed.Provides information on classes and programs offered by our Department; keeps informed of the many changes and modifications of our program offerings and schedules.Inputs patrons’ membership and registration information into the recreation software.Responsible for cash handling and processing payments; compiles a daily cash report worksheet and prepares bank deposit slips as required by shift.Assists in checking and restocking consumable and cleaning supplies.Enforces facility rules and policies as necessary.Keeps up-to-date on staff communications and required trainings.Assists in assigned shift duties such as cleaning fitness equipment, setup and cleanup for rental groups, maintaining an organized work station, and conducting building walkthroughs.Stays informed of emergency procedures and assists in implementation.Upholds Division mission statement and core values in every aspect of work.Requires regular and prompt attendance; May seasonally work as an outdoor pool cashier.Perform other duties as assignedReporting RelationshipsSupervision Received: Receives direct supervision from the Recreation Coordinator-Facilities and supplementary direction from the Recreation Specialist-Facilities and the Assistant Facility Specialist.Supervision Exercised: N/AKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to deal effectively with participants and the public in a positive way and provide excellent customer service.Ability to work non-traditional hours, evenings, weekends, and select holidays.Ability to work with constant interruptions.Ability to work independently, as well as a team member.Ability to work with diverse age groups and populations.Background check requiredTechnological SkillsExperience with recreation software programs preferred.Ability to operate Microsoft Office Suite to include, Outlook, Word and Excel.Education and ExperienceEducation : Some high school.Experience : Experience working with the public or in a customer service capacity preferred.Certification/Licenses/Specialized TrainingCurrent CPR and First Aid certifications, or the ability to obtain within three months of hire.Working Conditions and Physical RequirementsMust successfully complete and maintain required state or departmental physical standards and certifications.LIGHT WORK: Exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
