The City of Lakewood is seeking a Lifeguard to oversee patron safety at aquatics areas. The role is seasonal/temporary, part-time with no benefits, and pays $18.50 per hour. Under supervision, you will surveil pools, perform rescues, enforce rules, and maintain equipment and incident reports.
Must be at least 15 years old and hold current lifeguarding certification. Digiquatics and Workday may be used for operations. This position is a variable employee with schedule based on need.

The Lifeguard position offers a hiring rate of $18.50 per hour. Under the direct supervision of Head Lifeguards and the Aquatic Coordinator, the Lifeguard will be responsible for patron surveillance and safety, general maintenance, cleaning, and inspection of equipment in the Aquatics areas of the recreation centers and outdoor pools. Lifeguards must exhibit enthusiasm and dedication to their work and must be 15 years of age or older.
The City is recruiting variable employees for this position. A variable employee is an at‑will employee who works in a seasonal or temporary capacity. The work schedule is based on business need. This position is part‑time and does not offer benefits.
Receives general supervision from the Aquatics Coordinator and supplementary direction from the seasonal pool manager or assistant pool manager.
Background and reference checks will be conducted for all regular and some variable/seasonal positions.
Ability to operate Digiquatics and Workday.
Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification. No formal education or experience requirements specified.
This position requires a medium level of physical ability including standing for long periods, bending, reaching, lifting, jumping, walking, stretching, etc. Must be able to exert up to 50 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs of force frequently, and up to 10 lbs force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Must be able to participate in the rescue or retrieval of an individual from the pool or assist an individual suffering from a medical condition.
Hiring Rate: $18.50 per hour. Pay Range: $15.16 - $17.73 per hour.
