Job summary

  • Be trained to occasionally fill in in the front office answering phones and scheduling ADA pickups and drop-offs using TransLoc software.
  • Be trained to occasionally drive library van route service between Athens and Atlanta.

This is a benefits eligible, partial year position (August – May). Each selected candidate will sign a partial year agreement. Employees returning to work from designated partial-year leave periods are continued in the same position with no break in service and no change in the original hire date.

  • Transport passengers with registered disabilities in an accessible van to and from various campus locations in accordance with applicable laws and department procedures.
  • Assist passengers entering and exiting the vehicle as necessary.
  • Inspect vehicle before, during, and after shift to ensure vehicle is in proper operating condition.
  • Complete necessary paperwork, including timesheets and vehicle condition reports.
  • Operates other vehicle equipment such as electronic AVL equipment and wheelchair ramps.

Drug and alcohol testing by the US Department of Transportation.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies Communication skills and work with people of various backgrounds, physical, emotional, and developmental disabilities, and skill levels. Work with computers and learn to operate company software.

Physical Demands Sit for long periods of time. lift up to 50 pounds. walk up to ¼ mile each way. Work in adverse climates when loading and transporting. Driving.
