Job summary

Tennessee State Veterans’ Homes Board is hiring a full-time Van Driver for the Activities Department at our Murfreesboro skilled nursing facility. The role ensures safe, timely transportation of residents and staff, following established safety procedures and state regulations.

ESSENTIAL duties include assisting residents in and out of vehicles, operating a wheelchair lift as needed, and maintaining vehicle logs and basic maintenance checks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and one year of commercial driving experience preferred.
• Must maintain current and valid State of Tennessee driver’s license; CDL Class “F” or higher as designated by the State.

Responsibilities

• Transport residents, staff, volunteers, and others to scheduled events
• Coordinates transportation services with appropriate staff members
• Assists residents in and out of the vehicle, using proper safety procedures
• Operates mechanical lift as required for wheelchair bound patients
• Complies with traffic regulations to operate vehicle in a safe and courteous manner
• Responsible for timely arrival of residents to and from appointments outside of the facility
• Responsible for safety and personal care of residents under supervision
• Monitor and report necessary mechanical maintenance to ensure safe operation of vehicle
• Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment and keep logs
• Assist with planned resident activities when not driving vehicles
