Job summary

The Blossoms in Little Rock, AR is seeking a dedicated transport aide to safely operate a motor vehicle for residents of a nursing home. You will assist ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals in entering and leaving the vehicle and ensure everyone is securely seated for each trip.

This role requires a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and the ability to lift up to 80 pounds. You will also maintain trip records, mileage, and times, and assist with basic vehicle checks and routine

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to safely load, secure, and unload passengers.
• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds and assist mobility devices.
• Ability to follow oral/written instructions and keep records.
• Experience with individuals with disabilities or long-term care is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently operate assigned motor vehicle.

• Assisting ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals enter and leave the vehicle
• Ensuring that passengers are safely seated inside the motor vehicle
• Securing residents’ mobility devices such as walkers and wheelchairs
• Keeping a record of each bus trip and the residents who attended
• Documenting the mileage and time for each bus trip
• Performing preventive maintenance functions such as checking lights, maintaining fluid levels, checking tire pressure, etc. and notifying supervisory personnel of need for further service or repair

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of methods and techniques used to load, secure, and unload passengers from a motor vehicle
• Skill in the operation and basic maintenance of assigned motor vehicle
• Ability to find geographic locations
• Ability to follow oral/ written instructions and keep a record of activities
• Ability to lift, maneuver, and support materials of up to 80 pounds
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents and staff
• Possession of a valid driver’s license
• Good driving record

Experience

• Six to 12 months of work experience operating, loading, and unloading a motor vehicle
• Any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience which has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities stated above
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities or experience working in long term care a plus
