Job summary

Traditions Of Medina is seeking a dedicated Bus Driver to provide safe, timely transportation for residents. You will escort ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals, secure mobility devices, and maintain trip records to support daily operations.

Responsibilities include ensuring passengers are safely seated, following routes, and performing basic vehicle checks. Prior experience with individuals with disabilities or long-term care is a plus, and a valid license is required.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to load, secure, and unload passengers safely.
• Basic vehicle operation and maintenance knowledge.
• Ability to locate geographic areas and follow routes.

Responsibilities

• Operate assigned motor vehicle safely and efficiently.
• Interact with residents and staff to ensure comfort and safety.
• Assist ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals entering/leaving vehicle.
• Ensure passengers are seated and mobility devices are secured.
• Document mileage and time for each trip.
• Perform preventive checks and report repairs as needed.
• Maintain records of each bus trip and attendees.

As a Bus Driver, you'll be a vital part of our residents' daily lives. You'll ensure safe and timely transportation while helping residents feel secure, comfortable, and cared for during every trip.Bus Driver Duties and Responsibilities:

• The safe and efficient operation of assigned motor vehicle
• Extensive contact with patients/ residents of a nursing home facility
• Assisting ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals enter and leave the vehicle
• Ensuring that passengers are safely seated inside the motor vehicle
• Securing residents' mobility devices such as walkers and wheelchairs
• Keeping a record of each bus trip and the residents who attended
• Documenting the mileage and time for each bus trip
• Performing preventive maintenance functions such as checking lights, maintaining fluid levels, checking tire pressure, etc. and notifying supervisory personnel of need for further service or repair

Bus Driver Qualifications and Skills:

• Basic knowledge of methods and techniques used to load, secure, and unload passengers from a motor vehicle
• Skill in the operation and basic maintenance of assigned motor vehicle
• Ability to find geographic locations
• Ability to follow oral/ written instructions and keep a record of activities
• Ability to lift, maneuver, and support materials of up to 80 pounds
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents and staff
• Possession of a valid driver's license
• Six to 12 months of work experience operating, loading, and unloading a motor vehicle
• Any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience which has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities stated above
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities or experience working in long term care a plus
