Job summary

The Blossoms is seeking a dedicated transporter to safely operate a motor vehicle while assisting nursing home residents. You will help patients board and alight, secure mobility devices, and maintain accurate trip logs in a compassionate, patient-centered environment.

Qualifications include a valid driver’s license and CNA certification, with 6–12 months of relevant experience. A positive attitude and ability to follow instructions are essential for daily routes.

Qualifications

• Possession of a valid driver’s license is required.
• Must be CNA certified.
• Six to 12 months of work experience operating, loading, and unloading a motor vehicle.
• Experience with individuals with disabilities or long-term care is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate assigned motor vehicle safely and efficiently.
• Interact with patients/residents of a nursing home facility.
• Assist ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals entering and leaving the vehicle.
• Ensure passengers are properly seated and secured.
• Secure mobility devices such as walkers and wheelchairs.
• Keep a record of each bus trip and attendees.
• Document mileage and trip times.
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks and report needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• The safe and efficient operation of assigned motor vehicle
• Extensive contact with patients/ residents of a nursing home facility
• Assisting ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals enter and leave the vehicle
• Ensuring that passengers are safely seated inside the motor vehicle
• Securing residents’ mobility devices such as walkers and wheelchairs
• Keeping a record of each bus trip and the residents who attended
• Documenting the mileage and time for each bus trip
• Performing preventive maintenance functions such as checking lights, maintaining fluid levels, checking tire pressure, etc. and notifying supervisory personnel of need for further service or repair

Requirements:

• Basic knowledge of methods and techniques used to load, secure, and unload passengers from a motor vehicle
• Skill in the operation and basic maintenance of assigned motor vehicle
• Ability to find geographic locations
• Ability to follow oral/ written instructions and keep a record of activities
• Ability to lift, maneuver, and support materials of up to 80 pounds
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents and staff
• Possession of a valid driver’s license
• Must be CNA certified

Experience:

• Six to 12 months of work experience operating, loading, and unloading a motor vehicle
• Any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience which has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities stated above
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities or experience working in long term care a plus
