Job summary

Traditions-Management is seeking a Bus Driver to provide safe and timely transportation for residents at a nursing facility. You will assist residents on and off the vehicle and secure mobility devices while maintaining clear trip records.

Prioritize resident comfort, safety, and dignity on every ride. Requirements include a valid driver’s license, ability to lift up to 80 pounds, and experience with vehicle operation.

Qualifications

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to operate and maintain a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to locate geographic locations.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions and keep records of activities.
  • Ability to lift, maneuver and support up to 80 pounds.
  • Ability to establish good working relationships with residents and staff.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in long-term care is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Operate assigned motor vehicle safely and efficiently.
  • Assist residents entering and leaving the vehicle.
  • Ensure residents are safely seated and secure mobility devices.
  • Maintain records of each bus trip and mileage/time.
  • Perform basic vehicle preventive maintenance and report needs.
  • Maintain good communication with residents and staff.

Job description

As a Bus Driver, you’ll be a vital part of our residents’ daily lives. You’ll ensure safe and timely transportation while helping residents feel secure, comfortable, and cared for during every trip.

Bus Driver Duties and Responsibilities:
  • The safe and efficient operation of assigned motor vehicle
  • Extensive contact with patients/ residents of a nursing home facility
  • Assisting ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals enter and leave the vehicle
  • Ensuring that passengers are safely seated inside the motor vehicle
  • Securing residents’ mobility devices such as walkers and wheelchairs
  • Keeping a record of each bus trip and the residents who attended
  • Documenting the mileage and time for each bus trip
  • Performing preventive maintenance functions such as checking lights, maintaining fluid levels, checking tire pressure, etc. and notifying supervisory personnel of need for further service or repair
Bus Driver Qualifications and Skills:
  • Basic knowledge of methods and techniques used to load, secure, and unload passengers from a motor vehicle
  • Skill in the operation and basic maintenance of assigned motor vehicle
  • Ability to find geographic locations
  • Ability to follow oral/ written instructions and keep a record of activities
  • Ability to lift, maneuver, and support materials of up to 80 pounds
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents and staff
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license
  • Six to 12 months of work experience operating, loading, and unloading a motor vehicle
  • Any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience which has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities stated above
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or experience working in long term care a plus
