Job summary

Streetsboro City Schools seeks a dedicated van operator to transport students safely to and from district locations. You will drive a district van, perform regular inspections, and maintain confidentiality of privileged information while ensuring student supervision and safety.

The role requires adherence to Ohio rules, a valid license with van certification (CDL with P & S endorsements later), and a clean background. Training for endorsements and district policy compliance is provided.

Qualifications

• Valid Ohio driver’s license with van certification (will train).
• CDL with P & S endorsements within 6–12 months (will train).
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Meets all requirements outlined in the Ohio Revised Code.
• Background must be clear for public school employment.
• Must comply with district drug and alcohol policies.

Responsibilities

• Operates district school van in accordance with all rules and regulations.
• Performs van inspections to ensure equipment is present and functioning.
• Maintains confidentiality of privileged information.
• Oversees student behavior and reports misconduct.
• Assists students entering and exiting the van as needed.
• Provides medical or health care as necessary.
• Completes trips per routes and schedule.
• Complies with traffic laws.
• Reports suspected child abuse/neglect to authorities.
• Participates in health and safety training and district policies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Possess a valid Ohio driver’s license with Van Certification (will train).
• Obtain CDL with P & S endorsements within 6-12 months (will train).
• Equivalent of a high school diploma.
• Meets all requirements and qualifications outlined in the Ohio Revised Code.
• A record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.
• Complies with the Board’s drug and alcohol policies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Operates District school van in accordance with all rules and regulations.
• Completes inspections of the van to ensure all equipment is present and working properly.
• Maintains the security and confidentiality of all privileged information.

• Assists students entering and exiting the van, as needed.
• Provides passengers with medical or health care, as necessary.
• Completes all trips in accordance with the predetermined routes and time schedule.

• Participates in professional growth activities including health and safety training.
• Complies with all District policies and procedures.
• Performs other functions as assigned.
