Qualifications

  • Van driver certification from ODEW and Logan-Hocking School District.
  • Good attendance is required.
  • Physical ability to lift and manage preschool and special needs children when necessary.
  • Participation in drug and alcohol testing.
  • Maintain eligibility of fleet insurance coverage.

Responsibilities

  • Drive vans punctually on regularly scheduled routes.
  • Inspect van daily and log defects as required.
  • Report van defects to mechanics on the work order form.
  • Obey all traffic laws.
  • Develop and enforce student seating charts.
  • Maintain and report discipline incidents appropriately.
  • Assist with handicapped students when needed.
  • Promote positive public relations.
  • Operate vans only for approved school functions.
  • Report accidents and complete required reports.
  • Arrange vehicle service at least two days before maintenance.
  • Transport only authorized students to and from board approved stops and routes.
  • Fuel vehicle as required by regulations.
  • Perform student check and post-route van condition checks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Transportation Supervisor.

JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: VAN DRIVER

QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires that the person have:

  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Be 21 years old with a minimum of two years of driving experience.
  • Being physically qualified (rule 3301-83-07 of the Administrative Code).
  • Completion of semi-annual driver record checks through the Ohio Department ofEducation, for which records shall be maintained by the employer and/or school district for a minimum of six years. Van drivers with any of the following shall be disqualified from operating a Van:

1. More than six points last two years

2. A conviction of driving while under the influence of alcoholcontrolled substance during the last ten years

3. Two (or more) serious traffic violations, as defined in divisions II of section 4506.1 of the Revised Code, during the past two years, or

4. Any railroad crossing violation during the past year

  • Holding a van driver certification from ODEW and the Logan-Hocking School District.
  • Having completed van pre-service and in-service training.
  • Have good attendance.
  • Physical capability of safely and appropriately lifting and managing preschool and special needs children when necessary.
  • Participate in drug and alcohol testing.
  • To maintain eligibility of insurance coverage of the school district fleet insurancecarrier.

CONTRACT STATUS: 9 Month

TIME SCHEDULE: As required by van route assigned and/or supervisor

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

II. General Duties Include:

  • Drive vans punctually on regularly scheduled routes.
  • Inspect van daily as required and log accordingly.
  • Report van defects to mechanics on the work order form.
  • Obey all traffic laws.
  • Develop and enforce student-seating charts.

  • Perform any other duties and regulations requested and required to expedite the transportation program.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor.
