Job summary

Care Initiatives is seeking a compassionate Van Driver to support residents across our Iowa communities. You will transport residents safely to appointments and activities, assist with boarding and wheelchair securement, and maintain clear communication with nursing staff and families.

The role requires reliability, weekend availability, and a focus on safety and respectful interactions with residents. Training and competitive benefits accompany the position.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid Driver’s License with Class D – Chauffeur Endorsement.
• Not more than 2 traffic violations within the last 3 years.
• No previous driving while under the influence convictions.
• CPR and first aide certification or willingness to accomplish

Responsibilities

• Safely transport residents to medical appointments, outings, and special events.
• Assist residents with boarding and exiting the van, including wheelchair securement.
• Follow schedules and coordinate timely pick-ups and drop-offs.
• Observe residents during transport and report concerns to nursing staff.
• Complete incident reports and communicate with supervisors as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-functioning vehicle (fuel, fluids, basic supplies).
• Coordinate vehicle maintenance and service needs
• Communicate daily with nursing and facility teams
• Build positive relationships with residents, families, and staff
• Maintain reliable attendance and work flexible hours, including weekends
