Job summary

Heritage Specialty Care in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Van Driver to transport residents to appointments and events, assist with boarding, and maintain safety and cleanliness of the vehicle. You’ll work with nursing and facility teams to coordinate schedules and report any concerns promptly.

The role requires a valid Class D license with Chauffeur endorsement, CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). A compassionate, dependable approach and weekend availability are key.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Valid Class D driver’s license with Chauffeur endorsement.
• No more than 2 traffic violations within the last 3 years.
• No prior driving while under the influence convictions.
• CPR certification and first aid certification, or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport residents to medical appointments, outings, and events.
• Assist residents with boarding/exiting the van, including wheelchair securement.
• Follow schedules and coordinate timely pick-ups and drop-offs.
• Observe residents during transport and report concerns to nursing staff.
• Complete incident reports and communicate with supervisors as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-functioning vehicle and perform basic upkeep.
• Coordinate vehicle maintenance and service needs.
• Communicate daily with nursing and facility teams.
• Build positive relationships with residents, families, and staff.
• Maintain reliable attendance and work flexible hours, including weekends.
