Job summary

Care Initiatives is seeking a Van Driver to support our 40+ skilled nursing, assisted living, and independent living communities across Iowa. You will safely transport residents to appointments, assist with boarding, and maintain vehicle safety and cleanliness.

We value compassion and reliability as you coordinate pickups, communicate with nursing staff, and build strong relationships with residents and their families. Weekend availability is a plus for PRN Saturday shifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum 21 years of age.
• Valid Driver’s License with Class D – Chauffeur Endorsement.
• Not more than 2 traffic violations within the last 3 years.
• No previous driving while under the influence convictions.
• CPR and first aide certification or willingness to accomplish.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport residents to medical appointments, outings, and special events.
• Assist residents with boarding and exiting the van, including wheelchair securement.
• Follow schedules and coordinate timely pick-ups and drop-offs.
• Observe residents during transport and report concerns to nursing staff.
• Complete incident reports and communicate with supervisors as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-functioning vehicle (fuel, fluids, basic supplies).
• Coordinate vehicle maintenance and service needs.
• Communicate daily with nursing and facility teams.
• Build positive relationships with residents, families, and staff.
• Maintain reliable attendance and work flexible hours, including weekends.
