Job summary

Care Initiatives is hiring a Van Driver to transport residents to appointments, outings, and events across Iowa. You will assist with boarding, ensure wheelchair securement, and follow schedules while keeping a clean, safe vehicle and reporting issues to nursing staff.

The role emphasizes compassionate, reliable service, strong communication with nursing teams, and positive relationships with residents, families, and staff. Weekend hours are required and training may be provided.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid Driver’s License with Class D – Chauffeur Endorsement.
• Not more than 2 traffic violations within the last 3 years.
• No previous driving while under the influence convictions.
• CPR and first aid certification or willingness to accomplish

Responsibilities

• Safely transport residents to medical appointments, outings, and special events.
• Assist residents with boarding and exiting the van, including wheelchair securement.
• Follow schedules and coordinate timely pick-ups and drop-offs.
• Observe residents during transport and report concerns to nursing staff.
• Complete incident reports and communicate with supervisors as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-functioning vehicle (fuel, fluids, basic supplies).
• Coordinate vehicle maintenance and service needs.
• Communicate daily with nursing and facility teams.
• Build positive relationships with residents, families, and staff.
• Maintain reliable attendance and work flexible hours, including weekends.
