Job summary

Care Initiatives is seeking a Van Driver to safely transport residents to appointments and events across Iowa. You’ll assist with boarding, wheelchair securement, and daily vehicle maintenance while coordinating with nursing and facility teams.

The role emphasizes compassionate care, reliability, and the ability to build positive relationships with residents and families. Weekend availability is required as part of a flexible schedule.

Qualifications

• Minimum 21 years of age.
• Valid Driver's License with Class D - Chauffeur Endorsement.
• Not more than 2 traffic violations within the last 3 years.
• No previous driving while under the influence convictions.
• CPR and first aid certification or willingness to accomplish.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport residents to medical appointments, outings, and special events.
• Assist residents with boarding and exiting the van, including wheelchair securement.
• Follow schedules and coordinate timely pick-ups and drop-offs.
• Observe residents during transport and report concerns to nursing staff.
• Complete incident reports and communicate with supervisors as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-functioning vehicle (fuel, fluids, basic supplies).
• Coordinate vehicle maintenance and service needs.
• Communicate daily with nursing and facility teams.
• Build positive relationships with residents, families, and staff.
• Maintain reliable attendance and work flexible hours, including weekends.
