Job summary

Care Initiatives in Iowa seeks a Van Driver to safely transport residents to appointments, events, and activities, while assisting with boarding and wheelchair securement. The role requires flexible hours, including weekends, and close coordination with nursing teams.

The driver will maintain the vehicle, report incidents, and build strong relationships with residents and families, delivering compassionate care within our healthcare journey.

Qualifications

• Minimum 21 years of age
• Valid Driver’s License with Class D – Chauffeur Endorsement
• Not more than 2 traffic violations within the last 3 years
• No previous driving while under the influence convictions
• CPR and first aide certification or willingness to accomplish

Responsibilities

• Safely transport residents to medical appointments, outings, and special events
• Assist residents with boarding and exiting the van, including wheelchair securement
• Follow schedules and coordinate timely pick-ups and drop-offs
• Observe residents during transport and report concerns to nursing staff
• Complete incident reports and communicate with supervisors as needed
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-functioning vehicle (fuel, fluids, basic supplies)
• Coordinate vehicle maintenance and service needs
• Communicate daily with nursing and facility teams
• Build positive relationships with residents, families, and staff
• Maintain reliable attendance and work flexible hours, including weekends
