Job summary

Care Initiatives is seeking a Van Driver to safely transport residents to appointments, outings, and events across our Iowa communities. You will assist residents in boarding and exiting the van, ensure wheelchair safety, and communicate with nursing staff to maintain resident well-being.

Responsibilities include adhering to schedules, reporting concerns, maintaining vehicle upkeep, and building positive relationships with residents and staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum 21 years of age.
• Valid Driver’s License with Class D – Chauffeur Endorsement.
• Not more than 2 traffic violations within the last 3 years.
• No previous driving while under the influence convictions.
• CPR and first aide certification or willingness to accomplish.

• Assist residents with boarding and exiting the van, including wheelchair securement.
• Follow schedules and coordinate timely pick-ups and drop-offs.
• Observe residents during transport and report concerns to nursing staff.
• Complete incident reports and communicate with supervisors as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-functioning vehicle (fuel, fluids, basic supplies).
• Coordinate vehicle maintenance and service needs.
• Communicate daily with nursing and facility teams.
• Build positive relationships with residents, families, and staff.
• Maintain reliable attendance and work flexible hours, including weekends.
