Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Valvetrain Component Design Engineer for its Large Power Systems Division.

The role focuses on conceiving, developing, and designing complex valvetrain components for diesel and natural gas engines while collaborating with global teams. You will contribute to project planning, stay updated on innovative technologies, mentor teammates, and coordinate with manufacturing, purchasing, and suppliers to release high‑quality components.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering OR relevant experience.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with APQP, CPPD, FMEAs and design release.

Responsibilities

• Lead a global team in the design of Valvetrain components (valves, valve seats, rocker arms, pushrods, etc.).
• Design and promote new components and sub-processes.
• Provide technical evaluation of design, reliability, durability, and cost against program requirements.
• Apply NPI processes to conduct FMEAs, plan validation, and complete validation activities.
• Support NTI, NPI, CPI and NSI programs with on-time, on-budget project delivery.
• Communicate results to customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
