Job summary

John H. Carter Company in Baton Rouge, LA seeks a Senior Maintenance Planner with 5+ years in valve and instrumentation within petrochemical sectors to lead planning, scope, and QA/QC considerations. You will develop work packages, manage outages, and ensure safety and documentation across engineering drawings and specs.

You will also monitor backlog, support field walks, and coordinate with the reliability group to keep stakeholders informed with accurate schedules and progress updates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
• Minimum 5 years direct valve and instrumentation experience in petrochemical environments.
• Minimum 5 years Journeyman level E&I craft experience.
• Minimum 5 years experience with scheduling software, MS Office, and CMMS (SAP or Maximo).
• Minimum 5 years maintenance planning in refinery/chemical or Oil & Gas facilities.
• 5+ years direct valve/instrumentation troubleshooting and problem resolution.

Responsibilities

• Screen incoming work orders for scope and required planning levels including QA/QC.
• Conduct field walk-downs to document job requirements and safety hazards.
• Develop comprehensive work packages with man hours, crafts, equipment, parts, and drawings.
• Provide off-hour support for maintenance issues as needed.
• Create and maintain job plans for repetitive maintenance tasks.
• Plan and support outages, unit shutdowns, and plant-wide turnarounds.
• Measure maintenance backlog and maintain at least two weeks of ready backlog.
• Monitor work order lifecycle from start to close-out.
• Maintain professional image and comply with company policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned and communicate clearly with stakeholders.
• Work on-call and off-shift as required; collaborate with others to maintain product knowledge and communication accuracy.
