Job summary

John H. Carter Co., Inc. in Louisiana seeks a senior controls engineer to design, develop, implement, test, startup and tune process control automation projects across customer sites.

You will lead technical design reviews, automate DCS/PLC programming, support FATs, commissioning and startup, and provide on-site technical support to clients. Regular travel to remote sites, offshore facilities, and occasional overnight stays are required; a strong safety mindset and ability to work long hours

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
5+ years in process control/automation.
Strong programming and networking skills.
Experience with DCS/PLC systems, esp. DeltaV.
Travel to remote customer sites; offshore exposure preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead in project execution; interface with project managers and customers on design, issues, and progress.
Lead technical reviews and cabinet drawings per design specs.
Support software upgrades, FAT, commissioning, startup, and loop checkout.
Provide DCS technical support to our customer base.
Program DCS/PLC systems and conduct testing.
Participate in after-hours on-call rotation; travel 1–4 hours from home office.
