Job summary

Komatsu Mining Corp. is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer II for Value Innovation in Peoria, IL. You will lead cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations, focusing on fabricating, welding, painting, and assembly processes to meet print specifications.

The role requires hands-on experience with CAD/CAM, CNC tools, and Lean practices, plus strong project management and communication skills to move projects from concept to implementation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing/Industrial/Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• Minimum of 3 years in manufacturing engineering; 5+ years preferred.
• Experience driving manufacturing improvements through design, manufacturing and process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, and prioritize cost reduction opportunities across product design, processes, tooling, equipment, materials, labor, and flow.
• Select tools/programs for automated equipment using CAD/CAM and CAD software to optimize manpower, machines, and facilities.
• Complete projects using project planning tools and coordinated communication to ensure timely completion.
• Recommend tooling and equipment to assist fabrication and warehousing through model confirmations and revised processes.
• Understand budgets to assist cost management while improving safety, quality, and process costs.
• Utilize Lean tools (5S, Kaizen, PDCA) and standard work to improve processes.
• Perform time studies to optimize manufacturing/warehouse practices and Make vs. Buy analyses.
• Identify bottlenecks and propose steps to improve efficiency and layout continuity.
• Ensure ISO documents are kept up to date and support management goals.
