Job summary

BDO USA, PC is seeking a Valuation & Capital Market Analysis Associate to support the analysis and valuation of complex financial instruments. You will work in a team, assisting in model construction, industry research and client communications, under guidance of senior staff.

The role involves delivering valuation projects for illiquid assets, derivatives, and structured products, using advanced financial models and rigorous documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Financial Engineering, Actuarial Science, Risk Management, Mathematics, or Economics is required.
• Graduate degree or relevant credential (e.g., FRM, CFA) is preferred.
• Prior internship or work-study in valuation, corporate finance, or accounting is preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) is required; VBA/Python/R are a plus.
• Experience with capital markets data platforms (Capital IQ, FactSet, SNL, Bloomberg) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assists with delivery of projects related to valuation of illiquid and complex securities, hard-to-value assets, derivatives, and structured products.
• Constructs financial models for valuation across reporting, tax, regulatory, transaction support and strategy.
• Uses mathematical models for multiple asset classes including Monte Carlo & lattice models.
• May aid in hedge advisory, model validation, economic studies and other advisory projects.
• Prepares exhibits and memos illustrating complex issues; writes narrative valuation reports.
• Documents and maintains all work product and ensures quality controls.
• Participates in client meetings; performs industry and economic research.
• Guides peers in developing project plans and timelines for deliverables.
• Other duties as required.
