Job summary

Keck Hospital of USC is seeking a VAD Transplant Coordinator to provide RN-level nursing care for Ventricular Assistive Devices and cardiothoracic transplant patients. This role serves as the central contact for patients and families, handling after-hours coverage, education, and coordination across inpatient and outpatient settings at the Cardiothoracic Transplant Department.

The position requires collaboration with physicians, transplant staff, and community resources, with responsibilities

Qualifications

• BSN degree required.
• At least 1 year of critical/intensive care nursing experience.
• Clinical experience with ventricular assist devices (VAD) patients.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in MS Office and applicable computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Educates and coordinates care for VAD and cardiothoracic transplant patients and families.
• Independently facilitates evaluation and listing of transplant candidates.
• Maintains communication with referring physicians and insurance case managers.
• Contributes to policy/procedure development and staff education.
• Coordinates outpatient VAD patient care and pre-discharge education.
• Attends multidisciplinary rounds and transplant clinic.
