Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker is seeking a motivated UX/UI Design Intern to help develop user-centered experiences for physical products across iconic brands like DEWALT, CRAFTSMAN, and BLACK+DECKER. You will work with designers, engineers, and product teams to translate user needs into wireframes, prototypes, and interface concepts for real-world products and human-machine interfaces.

The role emphasizes learning how design reasoning informs product decisions within technical and manufacturing

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in UX/UI Design, Interaction Design, Industrial Design, or related field.
• Portfolio demonstrating design thinking and process preferred.
• Familiarity with wireframes, flows, prototypes, and interface concepts.
• Strong verbal and presentation communication skills required.
• Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
• Experience with user research or design systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support UX/UI design activities for product interfaces including HMI, displays, and controls.
• Assist with user research, competitive analysis, and synthesis of findings to inform design decisions.
• Create wireframes, flows, interface concepts, prototypes, and visual explorations to communicate direction.
• Translate user, technical, and business requirements into intuitive experiences.
• Participate in design reviews and communicate rationale to designers, engineers, and product managers.
• Iterate on concepts based on feedback and evolving product needs.
• Contribute to design standards, specifications, and documentation for consistency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout development.
