Job summary

Transdev in Dekalb, IL is hiring a Utility Worker to perform basic vehicle servicing duties. The role emphasizes safety and customer service orientation while maintaining fleet cleanliness, both inside and out.

Key tasks include cleaning vehicles, driving and parking, fueling, logging fluids, and light maintenance in the shop area. A High School Diploma and a valid driver’s license are required; DOT testing may apply.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Valid driver’s license for a minimum of 3 years.
  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible schedules.
  • Subject to DOT drug testing and physical if applicable (DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the cleanliness of fleet vehicles – interior and exterior.
  • Driving, maneuvering, and parking vehicles.
  • Fueling buses, replenishing fluids, and logging fluids.
  • Downloading drive cameras & probes fare boxes.
  • Perform light maintenance to shop areas, fueling stations, and related facilities.
  • Report maintenance issues to supervisor.

Utility Worker

Transdev in Dekalb, IL is hiring a Utility Worker. The Utility Worker is required to perform basic vehicle servicing duties. We are looking for customer service-oriented professionals who are dedicated to safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain the cleanliness of fleet vehicles - interior and exterior
  • Driving, maneuvering, and parking vehicles
  • Fueling buses, replenishing fluids, and logging and recording all fluids
  • Downloading drive cameras & probes fare boxes
  • Perform light maintenance to shop areas, fueling stations, and related facilities.
  • Report maintenance issues to supervisor
  • Other duties as required.

  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
  • Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
Physical Requirements

The essential functions of this position require the ability to:

  • Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions-100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations.
  • Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces
  • Push and pull objects up to 25 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level
  • Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
