Job summary

Transdev Services, Inc. seeks a dedicated Utility Worker at PHL Aviation in Philadelphia, PA. The role supports the Maintenance Department with vehicle cleanup, fueling, fluids checks, and light maintenance to keep buses ready for service.

Primary duties include keeping facilities and equipment clean, stocking supplies, recording readings, and reporting issues to the Utility Supervisor, while adhering to OSHA safety regulations and union guidelines under the CBA.

Qualifications

  • Requires CDL W with Passenger and Airbrakes endorsements.
  • Experience in vehicle maintenance and cleaning duties.
  • Ability to lift up to 50–75 lbs and perform outdoor work.
  • Must comply with OSHA safety regulations.

Responsibilities

Transdev Services, Inc., is seeking a Utility Worker at PHL Aviation Located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

CDL W PASSENGER AND AIRBRAKES ENDORSEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR POSITION!!!

The Utility/Maintenance maintains buses in conjunction with Maintenance Department: check oils, maintains accurate stick and meter readings, stocks required supplies/ equipment, and perform light maintenance as necessary to buildings and ground.

  • Starting pays $21.95 with progression to over 1 year.

Responsibilities:
  • Provides support to the Maintenance Department and Technicians (e.g., vehicle washing, vehicle fueling, vehicle seat repair, fluid checks, etc.) in accordance with established schedules.
  • Perform such cleaning duties as sweeping, mopping of floors, and vacuuming of seats and upholstery using appropriate cleaning equipment.
  • Clean windows, mirrors, and interior glass.
  • Empty trash from vehicles.
  • Report damage, malfunctions and other irregularities of the vehicle to Utility Supervisor.
  • Turn in lost and found articles, putting them in the lost and found cabinet and recording on the sheet each item found.
  • Follow company policy and OSHA safety regulations.
  • Position and stage vehicles in the parking lot.
  • Properly clean and maintain equipment and work area at the end of each shift.
  • Keeps workers storage and work areas clean at all times.
  • Responsible for moving or positioning a variety of equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned for the efficient operation of the facility.
Qualifications:

Opens the gates to the lot and checks bus parking areas to ensure all can be dispatched in a timely manner. Re-positions any buses that may impede the traffic in the yard.

Takes accurate stick and meter readings and turns in inventory sheets at the end of the day.

Maintains accurate records of buses sweeps, mops, and fluids.

Ensure daily cleaning of restrooms, office sweep, empty wastebaskets, and garbage is properly bagged and placed for pickup

Checks and fills the oil, antifreeze, power steering, transmission fluid, brake fluid, windshield washer fluid and belts on buses in service. Ensures that adequate supplies to perform checks are maintained at the location. Communicates with the shop foreman regarding supplies and oil inventory dispensed into equipment.

Twice a week, checks tires for damage and proper air pressure. Tire damage must be reported to the shop immediately.

Inspects all buses on a regularly scheduled basis for physical damage. Any damage will be reported immediately to the GM or MM

Maintains the required inventory in the spill barrel and notifies the MM any time supplies are used or replaced.

In the event of a fuel spill, takes all necessary steps to contain the spill. The GM and MM or designee must be notified immediately.

Maintains adequate inventories and supplies for cleaning buses between bus wash day.

Performs light interior and exterior maintenance on buses or trucks as required. This includes but is not limited to two-way radio installation and replacement, antenna installation and replacement, mirror adjustment and replacement, jump starting buses and lamp replacement.

Cleans interiors of buses as required to maintain cleanliness of the fleet.

Performs maintenance of buildings and grounds to include yard cleanliness, grass and weeds or any other yard projects that are assigned as necessary.

Maintains the appropriate credentials to drive a regular route or charter as required to cover the day’s activities.

Picks up and delivers parts and buses as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • 10% of work is accomplished in doors and in air conditioned or well-ventilated facilities.
  • 90% of work is accomplished outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions; most work is performed alone and in remote locations.
  • Frequently stands and walks; ability to sit for up to three hours; walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces; normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; ability to lift or handle material weighing up to 50 to 75 lbs. without assistance; ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch; and corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication.
  • Exposure to heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job.
  • Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
  • Exposure to cleaning solutions, oils, and other liquids.
