Utility Vegetation Lead & Tree Inspection Specialist

Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a vegetation management professional to identify, inspect, and evaluate trees along utility lines in Casper, Wyoming. You will plan, direct, and coordinate line-clearance crews and act as a liaison between clients, tree crews, and customers.

You will submit inspection results with recommendations, manage a geographical area for vegetation activities, discuss access issues, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• 2 year or 4 year degree in forestry, horticulture, environmental science or closely related field OR high school diploma/GED plus 2 years of experience in Utility Vegetation Management or other related field in lieu of a degree
• High school diploma/GED requirement can be waived for 5 years UVM experience
• Vegetation management experience preferred
• ISA Certified Arborist/TRAQ/ISA Utility Specialist preferred
• Competent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience working with GIS integrated data collection software/hardware preferred but not required
• Self-motivated, organized, and production oriented
• Comfortable working in an independent environment and managing a geographical area for all vegetation related activities
• Ability to work with stakeholders, utility customers and line clearance vendors
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Multi-tasking and strong time management skills required
• Ability to work in varied terrain and inclement weather with flexible schedules, including nights and weekends as needed
• Valid driver's license required
• Pre-employment drug screening and background check required

Responsibilities

• Perform identification, inspection, and evaluation of trees and brush along utility lines
• Submit inspection results to clients with recommendations
• Plan, direct, and coordinate the activities of assigned tree clearance crews
• Discuss and negotiate line-clearance crew access issues
• Serve as a liaison between clients, tree crews, and client customers
• Manage a geographical area for vegetation-related activities
