Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a field-focused vegetation management professional to identify and evaluate vegetation along utility lines, coordinate crew activities, and liaise with clients and customers. The role requires independent work across regions, strong communication, and reliability in varied terrain and weather.

Applicants should have a relevant degree or equivalent utility vegetation experience, be proficient with GIS/data collection, and be prepared for travel and long drives in a company

Qualifications

• 2- or 4-year degree in Rangeland Management, Forestry, Horticulture, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or closely related field, or 2 years of experience in Utility Vegetation Management or related field in lieu of a degree
• Vegetation management experience preferred
• Competent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
• GIS-integrated data collection software/hardware experience preferred but not required
• Self-motivated, organized, and production-oriented
• Comfortable working independently and managing a geographical area for vegetation-related activities
• Ability to work with stakeholders, utility customers, and line-clearance vendors
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Multitasking and strong time-management skills
• Ability to work in varied terrain and inclement weather with flexible schedules, including nights and weekends as needed
• Ability to hike for lengthy periods to access lines throughout the region
• Valid driver's license required
• Ability to drive long distances in a company vehicle
• Pre-employment drug screening and background check required

Responsibilities

• Identify, inspect, and evaluate vegetation and brush along utility lines
• Submit inspection results to clients with recommendations
• Plan, direct, and coordinate assigned clearance crew activities
• Discuss and negotiate line-clearance crew access issues
• Serve as liaison between clients, work crews, and client customers
• Perform real-time crew checks
• Obtain estimates, build schedules, and set up contractor work
• Travel to other areas when necessary
