Field Utility Vegetation Lead & Area Manager

Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Utility Vegetation Management professional to lead inspection, evaluation, and clearance coordination for utility lines in a defined geographic area. Responsibilities include planning crews, negotiating access, and serving as a liaison among clients, crews, and customers.

The ideal candidate will have an associate degree or equivalent experience in forestry or related fields, strong GIS and MS Office skills, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• 2 year degree in forestry, horticulture, environmental science or closely related field OR, in lieu of a degree, 2 years of experience in Utility Vegetation Management or other related field
• High school diploma/GED requirement can be waived for 5 years UVM or related experience
• Vegetation management experience preferred
• Competent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience working with GIS integrated data collection software/hardware preferred but not required
• Self-motivated, organized, production oriented
• Comfortable working in an independent environment and managing a geographical area for all vegetation related activities
• Ability to work with stakeholders, utility customers and line clearance vendors
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Multi-tasking and strong time management skills
• Ability to work in varied terrain and inclement weather with flexible schedules, including nights and weekends as needed
• Valid driver's license required
• Pre-employment drug screening and background check required

Responsibilities

• Perform identification, inspection, and evaluation of trees and brush along utility lines
• Submit inspection results to clients with recommendations
• Plan, direct, and coordinate the activities of assigned tree clearance crews
• Discuss and negotiate line-clearance crew access issues
• Serve as a liaison between clients, tree crews, and client customers
• Manage a geographical area for all vegetation-related activities
