Title: Utility Technician

Classification/Job Grade: Hourly

Location: Battle Creek, MI

Department: Maintenance

Supervised by: Utility Supervisor

Schedule: Sunday-Thursday, 11PM-7AM

Job Summary:

As a Utility Technician, you will be responsible for efficiently cleaning and sanitizing processing equipment and different areas of the plant. If you like to work in a fast-paced environment and be part of a team, this might be the perfect job for you.

Essential Job Functions:

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing the routine cleaning of walls, floors, tracks, overhead piping, valves, and other equipment
  • Ability to tear down and reassemble production line machines
  • Disassemble and clean floor drains, inside and outside of tanks and vats
  • Assist with ATP swabs
  • Assist in all State and/or Federal inspections
  • Maintain proper documentation including sanitation checklists and forms
  • Communicate with Sanitation Supervisor regarding project progress and completion
  • Coordinate with other departments regarding work schedules and sanitation schedules
  • Follow all company policies and procedures regarding GMPs, SOPs, and Quality standards
  • Demonstrate problem-solving and decision-making abilities as needed
  • Show proficiency in essential tasks and a willingness to learn
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required
  • Machine operator experience preferred, but not required
Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in Sanitation Department in a food processing facility or related field preferred
  • Knowledge of CIP (Clean-In-Place), COP (Clean-Out-Of-Place), and cleaning procedures preferred but not required
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and be on call as needed
