Job Title: Furnace Technician

Location: IKO Glass Fiber Inc., Chester, SC
Department: Production
Type: Full Time (FT/PT/Cont)

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain excellent attendance, working reliably and punctually.
  • Prioritize safety, following all policies and procedures, and promoting safety among team members.
  • Monitor and manage batch storage, delivery, weighing, and mixing processes.
  • Coordinate with QC and raw material carriers for unloading raw materials into silos.
  • Adjust and evaluate batch plant control systems to ensure efficient operation.
  • Control glass formation in furnace and forehearth, adjusting variables such as gas firing, pressure, temperature, and flow rates.
  • Inspect furnace and forehearths regularly, taking corrective actions as needed.
  • Assist with furnace changes, start-ups, shutdowns, repairs, and rebuilds.
  • Support maintenance team with repairs and process adjustments.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in all work areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Candidate Profile:
  • Experience in furnace operations.
  • Minimum of three years in manufacturing.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work in high-temperature environments and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights and days.
  • Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs/ladders, and work at heights.
